Vent shaft replacement is best option for Public safety and no ongoing maintenance costs. Existing Council ventilation shafts are now in excess of 60 years old and present an urgent safety risk to people and property. Concrete cancer and sewer gases attack the vent shaft and expose the reinforced steel bars, making concrete vent shafts susceptible to lightning strikes, collapse and serious injury.

SVSR specialise in:

  • Removal and replacement of aging, deteriorating vent shafts for regional Councils and Water Agencies
  • Difficult vent shaft access eg. Residents backyards; working near roadways, overhead power lines and underground services
  • Detailed design advice, odour/gas assessment and condition assessment of existing vent shafts; helping you plan your maintenance budget

SVSR Offer the following services:

Renewal of existing Vent shafts

SVSR specialise in the replacement of existing reinforced concrete and Mild Steel sewer vent shafts. We have demolished and replaced literally thousands of vent shafts across NSW for numerous Councils and Water Agencies. Vent shaft replacement is the most cost-effective option over the long-term for Infrastructure and Asset owners as it requires NO ONGOING MAINTENANCE COSTS AND NO RISK TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

Manufacturing and Supplying new vent shaft materials for installation by Council.

We manufacture and supply a range of vent shaft parts, delivered ready for installation by Others. All ventilation shafts are constructed using the highest quality materials to maximise design-life longevity and ensure maintenance-free service for years to come.

Inspection and condition reports

With aging sewer assets come odour complaints as hydrogen sulphide, or “rotten egg” gas becomes a major problem. SVSR provide advice and reporting of odour issues within communities, with a focus on developing asset rehabilitation strategies and odour control solutions.

This includes photography of the vent shaft and a location/condition report for each vent stack. This information is provided in digital format for effective asset management, particularly for regional or Council areas.

Community Relations

Since the majority of vent shafts are located on private property and in resident’s front and backyards, our first priority is to communicate with property owners to keep them updated on the Project. We also liaise with other interested stakeholders including neighbours, local councils, government organizations, developers and private businesses.

A typical vent shaft Project includes:

  • Inspection and assessment of the sewer vent shaft including liaising with residents on the likely impact to them (eg. Noise, dust, traffic etc.)
  • Recommendations for the most appropriate course of action and organising all approvals and access to the Site
  • On completing the Works, addressing any issues that may have arisen

We are committed to developing and maintaining positive, effective relationships with customers, local communities and other key stakeholders. Our primary objective is to provide customers with updated information and a high standard of service. As a company, we value integrity and professionalism.

Our staff take a personal approach to dealing with customers; being professional and courteous. We observe agreed working hours and special conditions relating to working at particular problematic sites.

Where the work has a high impact to the wider community, a site specific Contractor Community Liaison Plan will be developed for each site. We build community needs into the project plans to allow sufficient timeframes for the delivery of communications.

Vent Shaft Cowls

There are 3 types of vent shaft cowling available: wire cowl (non-directional, also known as a bird cage); rotating cowl (also known as a whirly bird, used in educt cowls); and forced induct cowl (has a tail like appendage). We manufacture, supply and install.
