Vent shaft cowls

With our decades of experience in the design, fabrication and installation of sewer vent shafts, we have come to learn a thing or two about vent cowls. We’ve supplied cowls for regional councils, engineering projects, pump stations and the oil industry.  And that knowledge has seen us develop market leading designs that are high quality and fit for purpose.

We offer cowls in all sizes from DN150 – DN225/DN250 – DN300. Both induct and educt cowls are fitted with stainless steel shafts and sealed stainless steel bearings to minimise damage from highly corrosive sewer gases… the added benefit to you is that this also helps to reduce ongoing maintenance costs.

If you are unsure of the type of cowl to best suit your job or you require a custom design, our experienced team can run you through the available options.

Educt cowls

Educt cowls can have custom sleeves fitted, depending on the vent shaft ID requirement.

Wire vent cowls (passive)
In cases where access for ongoing maintenance is quite limited, e.g. in a residential backyard, a wire vent pipe cowl is the best option.

Also known as a bird cage, this type of cowl is passive and non-directional, requiring minimal maintenance.

Wire Vent Cowls

We manufacture our wire vent shafts cowls to the following specifications:

Rotating educt vent cowls (active)
In order to maximise the extraction of corrosive and odorous gases from sewer lines and maintenance holes, rotating cowls create a vacuum through their ‘whirly bird’ design.

These are active cowls designed for areas where septicity and odour issues are common e.g. pump station wet wells and rising main discharge maintenance holes.

They feature UV stability to withstand elements.

SVSR rotating educt vent pipe cowls are manufactured to the following specifications:

Rotating educt vent cowls (active)

Induct cowls

Induct cowls can accommodate a PVC Vent line coupling or a Table D flange, depending on site requirements.

Vent shaft mounted rotating induct cowl (active)
This type of vent cowl is fitted with a wind vane to the rear that ensures the cowl spins to face the direction of the wind, forcing wind into the vent. They work by drawing oxygen into the sewer, increasing air-flow, thereby reducing septicity, corrosion and concrete cancer.

Like the educt cowls, they also have UV stability to withstand elements.

Varying sizes of Rotating Induct Cowls
