SVSR will be one of the first SMEs to be involved with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility (AMRF), opening in 2023. We will join the likes of Sydney Water and CSIRO to provide collaborative opportunities for world-class technologies, cutting edge research and highly skilled staff to come together to create specialist engineering services.
This high tech research facility will bring together technology, advanced machinery, robots and other intelligence resources to test and prototype to create advanced manufacturing products and techniques that service a multitude of industries along the Western Corridor, NSW and Australia.
This collaboration will see university research and industry expertise like ours disrupt markets and placing us as leading sewer vent cowl manufacturers at the coalface of industry evolution to improving sewer vent and cowl technology.
Western Parkland City lies on the Western Economic Corridor as the economic authority for Greater Sydney.
Comprising eight local governments with a Gross Regional Product contribution estimated at more than $56 million per annum and with a planned investment of over $20 billion, the area will be Australia’s leader in the advanced manufacturing industry, research, export, skilled employment, education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
NSW Government further demonstrated its commitment with the construction of the Western City Airport and Badgerys Creek Aerotropolis to be better able to serve as an optimised import and export channel for local and international markets.
The AMRF is one of the key focal points of the planned Western Parkland City. Western Sydney is home to more manufacturing companies than anywhere else in Australia.
Given the planned infrastructure development in the area plus the advancing aerotropolis and the urgent need for significant investment into advanced skills development to create more jobs to service this sector, this Australia first is a welcomed opportunity.
The objective of the research facility is to offer a collaborative opportunity where industry, businesses and universities can work together using groundbreaking technology, research and best practices to conduct research in advanced electronics and manufacturing.
This undertaking is threefold: a) to encourage the adoption of advanced manufacturing from the more traditional methods; b) to enable the local manufacturing sector to prepare for the future; and c) to help grow businesses and stimulate job creation.
Exposure to AMRF for the industry will mean solutions that directly impact this country’s foundational infrastructure.
Tech of the future like 3D printing, laser machining, robotics, artificial intelligence, augmented reality and IoT automation are all technologies already affecting everyday life.
Applying these technologies to improved products and manufacturing processes will support business growth and escalate research and development efforts for local organisations like us.
The Minister for Western Sydney, Stuart Ayers, has also endorsed this research opportunity. He announced his plans for the New Education and Training Model (NETM) courses, which can teach individuals skills designed to optimise the workplace of the future within 40 hours.
SVSR will pioneer this partnership to improve sewer infrastructure and vent cowl design and manufacturing with access to expert researchers and equipment boasting the latest tech.
Duncan says, “We have already been supporting high school students across Western Sydney (now Parkland City) with STEM education in those schools. Later in the year, we will be commencing an exciting project with university students to explore the fabrication of precision parts for our customers using 50% recycled materials.”
The fact that we will be able to develop this locally will also circumvent international supply chain issues the world has recently suffered too. Access to 3D printing and creating products that will be truly corrosion resistant, as one example, will be a game changer for the industry.
The anticipated project and product development plans we have in the pipeline could also transcend other industries like the biodiversity and defence force sectors.
