Chris Antoun, SVSR Operations & Compliance Manager, recently oversaw a project for a Townsville sewer pump station, which involved customising one of our induct vent cowls to meet local council specifications. The result was a quality vent cowl solution… and a very satisfied client.
About the vent cowl project
Professional Pump Services & Irrigation (PPS) is a Townsville-based company that provides pump and irrigation services for residential, mining, agriculture and Mullaly FRP Packaged Pump Stations in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
PPS Director Peter Bainbrigge contacted SVSR looking for a custom-sized induct vent cowl for a power station used by Townsville City Council. “We provide our services for a lot of power stations, and this particular project was specified by Council,” he explains.
“I found SVSR online,” he continues. “They provided us with photos and drawings of various vent cowl designs, and we went from there.”
Customising every vent cowl
Chris explains that while SVSR delivers both standard and tailored vent cowl designs, every cowl is fabricated to project specification.
“We don’t do off-the-shelf cowls or vents. We can provide standard designs if that’s what the client needs, and we custom size it to suit a variety of pipes. Every aspect is tailored and we can mix and match components to suit the particular project.”
In this case, SVSR fabricated and delivered a dual flap Dn250 ground mount induct cowl and cover – with positive results.
“We haven’t finalised installation yet, but at this stage, it looks great,” says Peter. “The quality is good and there were no issues through the project. When we’re looking for induct vent cowls again, we’ll certainly get in touch with Chris. He and his team did a great job.”

SVSR fabricates vent shaft cowls in all sizes, including DN150, DN225/DN250 and DN300. Our induct and educt cowls are fitted with stainless steel shafts and sealed stainless steel bearings that minimise damage from highly corrosive sewer gases… to help you minimise maintenance costs.
Our educt cowls include wire vent cowls (passive) and rotating educt vent cowls (active), and our induct cowls include vent shaft-mounted rotating induct cowls (active).
